Airbus will make A400M aircraft parts in the UAE and plans to open a training center
Airbus plans to make important A400M aircraft parts in the UAE. This will help local companies like EPI and Strata become more involved in the global aerospace supply chain.
Airbus Plans
Airbus plans to set up facilities in the UAE to maintain, repair, and upgrade A400M aircraft. It will also open a special training center. Gabriel Sémelas, Airbus president for Africa and the Middle East, shared this news with the Emirates News Agency (WAM).
Sémelas said Airbus is committed to training local talent through special programs, technical support, and research projects.
“Creating jobs and developing skills are key parts of Airbus’s plan to grow in the UAE,” he said. The company will train and support the UAE workforce.
EPI Partnership
EPI, part of the UAE’s EDGE Group, extended its contract with Airbus last December. It will continue making important aircraft parts for the A320 and A330 until 2031.
Michael Deshaies, CEO of EPI, said the company will help Airbus by improving skills, technology, and certifications.
The contract includes quality checks during and after production to ensure Airbus planes are built to the highest standards.
UAE Expansion
At the World Government Summit last month, Wouter van Wersch, an Airbus executive, confirmed that Airbus will keep working closely with the UAE, especially with Emirates and Etihad Airways.
Airbus has started delivering A350 planes to Emirates, with more to come soon.
In November, Airbus partnered with EDGE to produce a special fuel tank for the C295 transport plane.
Jean-Brice Dumont, Airbus’s head of air power, told WAM that Airbus plans to double its industrial work in the UAE in the next ten years.
He added that Airbus aims to not only meet local needs but also turn the UAE into a major hub for aircraft parts, helping Emirati businesses reach global markets.
